So I know I said I was going to update this daily with pictures from the collections I am working on, and I know I have already broken that informal contract, but I am just putting it on hold for the immediate moment while I do a little sorting of my internet life. Mainly, I realized that this blog is extremely confusing for all who I tell to come here. I originally wanted to make it a place for friends to keep up with what I am doing, and decided that I could accomplish that goal while still keeping it professional. However, I definitely failed in doing so, and I am now just reluctant to direct friends or professionals here because neither really get what hell it is I am trying to do or say here. Hopefully, with the coming changes, that will no longer be the case.
One of the first things I have done is separated my portfolio from my blog. You can still get to it from here, but you may have noticed that the layout is very different, and the URL has changed. Right now it’s sitting on a temporary domain (www.sentientart.com) until I can get another domain I own transfered over to my current provider (www.shonnon.com). Once that goes through, I will move my portfolio over to that site, and make it my official internet business card. No text, no ramblings, or commentary otherwise lacking context. Just the body of work I want to show to potential clients, with it’s own domain that’s easy to remember, completely separate from this blog. Now, if people forget my website, rather then feeling bad about having a ridiculously pretentious domain name, I can just guilt them for forgetting my first name =).
The other project I am happy to be starting soon is my nude portfolio. A few months ago some friends were kind enough to model for me, and we took some great pictures, but they have just been sitting on my computer, as I am worried about the impression people will get from it. The work isn’t all that vulgar – in fact, it’s quite benign – but I can’t exactly judge how the variety of people I have directed here will react. To combat this dillema, I registered another domain and started setting up a new website just for this work. I am not going to publish it here, as that would kind of defeat the whole purpose, but if you are interested in checking it out, just let me know. If you are a friend of mine, then I know you have an open mind, and I don’t mind you checking it out. In fact, I am eager for you to see them and tell me what you think!
Hopefully this should be done within a week. All I am really waiting on is my domain transfer and I should be all set. Once that is all done, it’s back on schedule. Now that I actually have a place to put stuff, it should be much easier to make that stuff in the first place.
